This 7 days gorilla & chimpanzee safari has been designed specifically for those who wish to track Mountain Gorillas and also Chimps in the wild.

The safari starts from Entebbe and drives directly  to Kibale National Park specifically known as one of the best place trek communities of wild but habituated Chimpanzees.

Day 1
Arrival

Today you will meet with our driver guide at the Airport.

You will transfer to Papyrus Guest House in Entebbe for your overnight stay and refresh from the long travel.

Day 2
Travel to Kibale National Park

On this day, you will be collected from the lodge and drive to Kibale National Park for 2 nights to allow ample time to explore the forest.

Kibale forest National Park

Kibale forest national park, 766 km2 is one of Uganda's enchanting forested parks. here, you can hike in the park for hours observing the drummer of life in a rain forest.

And mixed tropical deciduous forest. in addition to forests, you will also notice areas of grassland and of swamps.

The forest is rich in wildlife. it is most noted for it's primate population. Some of these are red-tailed monkey, diadem-ed monkey, olive baboon, chimpanzee , black and white colobus monkeys.

Some of the mammals you will might see are bush-buck, Harvey's red duiker, blue duiker, bush pigs and African civet.

More difficult to spot are buffaloes, water buck, hippos, warthogs, giant forest hogs.

Herds of elephants once traveled back and forth through the area. These elephants have become more and more rare and now are seldom seen.

The bird like in the forest and grasslands of the forest is abundant. There are almost species, which have been identified here. once particularly worth noting is the endemic to Kibale.

Day 3
Chimpanzee Habituation

Chimpanzee Habituation

This activity will generally take place in the morning.

You will be driven to Kibale forest National Park's Headquarters, to meet your guide for your mornings chimpanzee habituation experience.

The forest is a live with noise, and you should be lucky enough to see the semi- habituated chimpanzees during the experience.

Day 4
Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National park

Drive to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park for over night at Broadbill forest camp

Bwindi impenetrable National Park

It is located in south western Uganda, on the edge of the great rift valley, it is considered the most the diverse forest in Uganda.

The area one of the few large forests in East Africa, where low land and montane habitats meet, contains a dense ground cover of herbs, vines, shrubs.

Home to over 120 species of mammals, 345 species of birds, 200 species of butterflies, and 160 species of trees, Bwindi is one of the richest echo systems in East Africa.

The Park contains almost 1/2 of the worlds population of endangered mountain gorillas, making it an extremely valuable conservation site.

Bwindi is also home to several endangered bird species with very limited ranges, and acts as an important catchment area of many rivers, supplying water for Agriculture in surrounding region.

Day 5
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Following breakfast at the lodge, travel to National Park headquarters in ruhija to meet your guides for the day and begin your gorilla trekking experience.

Experienced guides and truckers will accompany your party on an early morning truck into the dense rain forest on the mountain slopes.

The journey through a foliage and up to steep climbs, it is abundantly rewarded with a life time experience of viewing mountain gorillas, in their natural habitat.

You will have an opportunity to be within meters of these magnificent apes for 1 hour after finding them.

Sharing in there daily lives and experiencing their day to day activities, naming the families.

The researchers will take you through the whole process of habituating the gorillas are extremely rare with only an estimated 1004 remaining in the world as of 2014 census.

This is an experience that will leave you with endless memories.

PLEASE NOTE

Trekking may be fairly strenuous with treks up to 6 hours or longer at high altitudes, not un common.

Also mountain gorillas are wild animals and as such sightings can not be guaranteed.

However viewing success rates are over 95% . Please refer to our detailed information to have more on gorilla trekking requirements conditions and considerations.

Day 6
Batwa Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National park

Following breakfast at the lodge, travel to the batwa groups to meet the closest relative of the gorilla that lived in the park until 1991 when the park was Gazzeted

The Batwa Experience

The Great Lakes Twa are one of the last groups of short people commonly known as pygmys or keepers of the Forest.

After gazetting Bwindi as a National Park, they consequently could no longer live in a hunter gather lifestyle in the forest.

Batwa now some of the poorest people in the world as a result with a high infant mortality rate and low life expectancy

The history of these small-statured people is long and rich.

They survived by hunting small game using arrows or nets and gathering plants, fruit in the rain forest.

They lived in huts constructed of leaves and branches, moving frequently in search of fresh supplies of food.

Day 7
Departure

Departure

After breakfast you will drive to either Kigali or Entebbe International airport for your flight out.

In case you are traveling to Entebbe, you will stop at the Equator for great photographs.

And in case you are travelling to Kigali, you will visit Gisozi Genocide museum to see the history of Rwanda's genocide.
